Bundaberg Ginger Beer

Recently a lady named Gina from Sport Northland came to our school to talk to each class about different types of drinks. Gina asked my class to reasearch about a different drink that she didn't talk about. I choose to research on the Bundaberg Ginger Beer.

Here is my slideshow on the Bundaberg Ginger Beer:

Lisa Carrington

Recently we had to research either an animal, a sporting superstar, or a special event or celebration. I chose mine to be a a sporting superstar. I did mine on Lisa Carrington.

Here is my research on Lisa Carrington:

You may have seen Lisa Carrington on TV at the olympics in Tokyo 2020 when she came New Zealands most sucessful olympian. Lisa Carrington is a 1.68m, 63kg, 32 year old Canoe/Kayak sprinter who has won 5 gold medals and 1 bronze medal all at different olympics. Lisa Carrington was born in Tauranga on 23 June, 1989. When she was eight years old her and her family moved to the scenic coastal town of Ohepe beach near Whakatane. As a child Lisa Carrington played netball and aspired to be a Silver Fern. Lisa Carrington is both Maori and Pakeha. Lisa Carringtons partner is Micheal Buck.

Lisa Carrington attended Whakatane High School and then went onto Massey University in Albany, Auckland and is now studying for a graduate diploma in phychology after already earning a bachelor of arts.

Lisa Carrington first started paddling as a surf life saver and has represented in that sport too. Lisa Carrington first started Canoeing/Kayaking when she was 17 years old in 2006. She has been Canoeing/Kayaking for 15 years now. She is coached by Gordan Walker. Gordan Walker earned the prestigious coach of the decade prize at the Halberg awards. In 2007 the 17 year old represented New Zealand in the K1 & K2 Kayakingat the Australian youth olympic festival. She has been unstopable over the 200m distance since 2011, winning four consecutive world champinship titles and dominating the world cup circut.

Lisa Carrington was named sportswoman of the year at the 2016 Halberg awards before claiming the supreme Halberg award. When Lisa Carrington was 27 years old she became only the third woman to win the top prize in the past decade. Lisa Carrington got to be the olympic flag bearer at the 2016 Rio closing ceremony.

Lisa Carrington is always doing New Zealand proud!

Kate's Adventure

Recently we had a sentence starter to start our writing. We then had to carry on the story. It was on a girl named Kate.

Here is my story on Kate's adventure:

Since she was young, Kate had known she was different to normal people. It was only now though that her true powers were beginning to be realised. She was becoming the person she was born to be. It was her destiny...to become normal. She had been taken from her bed in a small town from a rather unusual thing, nothing other than an alien. She was now traveling to a place she and not many other people had been before - outer space! She had been thrown into a spaceship at exactly midnight on a cold, miserable night in California. She was trembling with fear and coldness, frightened that she would never ever see her family again. The alien was in the front compartment of the spaceship swerving from side to side.

“I need to get back to my family!” Kate said, “Well, we’re here now!” said the alien. “We’re not going back until my job is done, which is to fix you!”. Kate was now crying and screaming, but deep inside of her mind she was actually wondering what could happen if the alien fixed her brain. Kate had a disease in her brain called Neurodegenerative disease which causes your brain nerves to deteriorate over time, it can change your personality and can cause confusion. It can also destroy your brain’s tissue and nerves. Kate had only just been diagnosed with the disease, so her brain hadn’t been destroyed. The alien  could possibly change her life forever and she would finally be like a normal person. The spaceship landed in a hurry bouncing off wherever they were. The alien came out of the front compartment and grabbed Kate by her t-shirt and hauled her into this building that was completely white and plain.

The alien threw Kate into a funny shaped machine that was shaped like a cylinder, it looked like it had been transformed from a hot water cylinder into a machine that could possibly change everything in Kate's life. Kate sat down on the provided seat that was in the machine, it was a bit tacky but Kate thought, if this is going to change my life I will sit there. She could hear the alien talking to someone, but she couldn’t understand the language. Then she heard buttons going “beep, bop, boop!”. Then all Kate could see was her going round and round in circles like a tornado, it was getting faster and faster and Kate was starting to feel dizzier and dizzier. It was starting to work, Kate started to feel better. The tornado finally stopped and the door of the machine opened. Kate was finally normal. The alien grabbed her t-shirt again and dragged her back to the spaceship.

Lockdown Sense Poem

Recently we had to write a poem about our feelings while we have been in lockdown.

Here is my Poem:

Happiness is a patch of flowers blowing slightly in the wind.

It smells like spring daffodils ready to pick.

It tastes like fresh spring wind.

It sounds like a journey yet to discover.

It feels like a soft spring present that comes every year.

It looks like spring is finally here.

Make Your Own Neuron

Recently while we have been in Lockdown level 4 we had to make our own Neuron and compare it to another Neuron. I made my Neuron out of paper and sellotape.

Here is my Neuron that I made and the one we had to compare it to:
